IMG_1347This week I had the opportunity to attend the Wolf-Livestock Coexistence Workshop put on by the Shasta County Department of Ag, USDA Wildlife Services and Defenders of Wildlife in picturesque Hat Creek, California. With two wolves taken up residence nearby in Lassen County and more on the way down from Oregon, the timing and location were apropos.

60-65 attendees made the trek to the beautiful Hat Creek Valley, taking time out from work and chores to learn more about what the return of the gray wolf means for rural California. The workshop was on Wednesday morning, but I chose to drive up Tuesday afternoon and camp at a spot where I’d had good luck finding wolf sign the year before.
